Gondella Sustainability Gondella has the future in mind
We don't just think about the future of store design, but also about our customers, employees and the future of our planet. We understand how what we do impacts everything and everyone around us, so we're committed every day to creating a safe, sustainable and enjoyable environment. For this generation of stores and the next.
Gondella Our commitment … to our customers
Our customers expect sustainable products that are – and remain – high in quality. We reject the disposable culture by consciously choosing quality and durability over and over again. Provided they are structurally sound, you can choose to combine existing materials with newer ones or to rework older ones.
“All our designs are easy to install and dismantle, so they adapt effortlessly with the changing needs of your store, allowing you to extend their service life.” General Manager Frederic Declercq
Gondella Our commitment … to our employees
Gondella’s strength is our team, so we work hard to create an environment where everyone feels happy and appreciated. Personal development, wellbeing and lifelong learning are at the heart of how we operate and health and safety are the priority in everything we do.
”We use initiatives like Gondella 5S, Kaizen & Lean and the internal MOVE programme to raise awareness among employees of how they can play an active role in this.” HR Manager Belgium Kim Strouwen
Gondella Our commitment … to the environment
As a major production operation, our aim is to take a sustainable approach to reducing our environmental impact and energy consumption, always in compliance with the relevant legislation and regulations. We're aware of our environmental footprint and implement targeted measures to be greener, like consciously choosing renewable energy in our factories and offices.
For instance, in a landmark step for our Gondella Česká Skalice site in the Czech Republic, we’ve installed solar panels on the 6,000m² roof of our production hall end of 2023. This new solar installation is set to generate 405 kWp, yielding roughly 410 MWh per year. The start of a significant shift towards sustainable energy use in our operations.
Gondella’s modular store shelving can be reused in order to support the circular economy. Our zero-waste policy at our production sites is another conscious choice as well as consistently choosing the latest production techniques that use fewer resources.
Wherever possible, we also reuse leftovers from production as base materials for other industries; for example, a third-party company takes our old paint powders and reworks them to create car mats. This means that none of these valuable raw materials are lost or wasted.
