Case: From concept to realisation, Gondella as remodelling partner of Delhaize supermarkets.

Delhaize, part of the international Ahold Delhaize group, is one of the most recognisable supermarket chains in Belgium. For more than ten years, Delhaize has relied on Gondella for the design of its stores – from the large central supermarkets to the Proxy and AD formulas.

Our role? A partner that takes care of everything and makes the difference: accurate, flexible and always within budget and on schedule.

Start of the partnership

The collaboration began about ten years ago, when Delhaize was looking for a new supplier who could further develop their store concept, both technically and aesthetically. Thanks to the combination of Gondella’s expertise and a wide product range – from sustainable store shelves and promotional tables to complete checkout areas and cross-selling furniture – Gondella was able to help shape the entire Delhaize concept step by step.

Growth

Over the years, we have gradually expanded the range and helped the team at Delhaize to facilitate innovation within the Delhaize concept. Quality, reliability and compliance with agreements are central to every project. Because Gondella also stocks less common Delhaize materials, remodelling projects can run smoothly.

Today, we work closely with Delhaize's Belgian project and retail consultants on a daily basis. They rely on the in-depth knowledge of the brand and store concept, but also on our service: clear and fast quotations, a flexible production facility with short lead times and the ability to deliver just-in-time.

In addition to our expertise and service, the final installation on site stands out in particular. Shops interiors are built up in a short time and with the utmost care.

Recent privatisation

With the recent privatisation of Delhaize, franchisees tend to add extra experiences and new accents to their shops, always within the Delhaize concept. Gondella responds to this with customised furniture and specific eye-catchers.

The fresh produce department, fruit and vegetable tables, bread displays and wine department are all eye-catchers that make a difference to the shopping experience in a Delhaize store.

Front-end zone in the familiar Delhaize concept

The front-end zone also plays a key role in this. The innovative SLIM conveyor checkouts with their recognisable wooden finish, customer guidance and gates, packing furniture and counters: the entire zone is finished down to the last detail in accordance with the familiar Delhaize concept.
