The Gondella group is a Belgian owned manufacturer of a complete shelving system with a full range of accessories. It produces all metal items from steel sheet and special tubes up to the finished products (finishing by epoxy powder coating, with a choice of more than 100 RAL-colours) .The system is then completed with other items like plastic ticket rails, glass, hooks and wire bins produced by subcontractors according to the Gondella design and quality standards.
The group has a work force of about 200 people, mainly factory workers, and reaches a consolidated turnover level of over 20 million Euros. The main part of this turnover is reached by export. Its most important customers are shop-fitters and chain stores, both in Belgium and its neighbouring countries, as well as in countries further afield. The Gondella system is now simultaneously produced in its Belgian factory, to serve the West-European and overseas markets, and in a Czech factory to serve the expanding markets of the Central and East European market.
Apart from the superb quality of the Gondella system, the company is valued by its customers for the short delivery times, the flexible production and the ability to respond to individual requests.
Gondella's present client list includes over 3000 names and is comprised of chain stores, shop-fitters, dealers, and for the Belgian market, major individual stores. Among our customers we can count hypermarkets, supermarkets, toy shops, D.I.Y. markets, book shops, multimedia stores, car centres spreading all over Europe (Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Poland), all equipped with Gondella-materials, We also have shop-fitters in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, France, Germany, Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Hungary, Singapore.
The Gondella N.V. company was established on 19th March 1965 in the city of Ghent where it produced the basic items of a shelving system. In order to fulfil the growing demand the factory was moved to its actual location in the industrial area of Eke in 1980. The business started to rise considerably in the 80's, and in 1988 the factory was successfully taken over by the current owner. A dramatic fire destroyed the factory on 7th July 1992. However, due a pragmatic approach focused on serving the customer the full system was readily available within less than a year and a brand-new factory was built using the newest technology. This reconstruction doubled the capacity of the factory.
A new expansion in 2000 doubled the warehouse capacity of the Belgian plant in order to deal with the increased output volume and the highest delivery and service demands of modern chain stores. The actual size of the Belgian warehouse is over 5000m².
In early 1997 a fully equipped shelf production plant was acquired in the Czech Republic. This factory produced high-quality shelving units for domestic use and was equipped with a modern painting line. With the knowledge of technology, its motivated 120 workforce and up to date technology, it started to produce Gondella parts a few months later. Now-a-days it produces almost the complete Gondella system in the Czech Republic. Last year a completely new 12.000m² factory was built, which includes a showroom of 750m² and a state of the art painting line of 2000m². The new location is Rikov 266 - 552 03 Ceska Skalice. This Czech plant serves customers in Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Russia, and the list is still expanding.
